Can anyone please tell me what I need to hook up an HDTV, and a VCR/DVD combo so I can watch TV?

I live in the United States. I do not know if my HDTV has a digital tuner in it or not, but I know that my VCR/DVD combo doesn't. Please keep it simple, since I'm not an expert in electronics. Thank you.
