What is a fairy tale that can be compared to Watchmen?

If you haven't read the graphic novel, it is basically the same exact as the movie except the ending. This doesn't necessarily have to be a book, it can also be a movie. Watchmen is very philosophical, so I wanted to pick something that was also. It mainly explicates the difference between justice and injustice. It doesn't have to be a legitimate fairy tale (i.e., Snow White, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast). I have a friend comparing it to Harry Potter. I just need help thinking of suggestions. Thanks!
