Having installation problems, can you help?

I recently bought a Sanyo multi region dvd/vcr recorder which was refurbished, however I haven't any manual for it and I'm having a heck of a time installing it in my Techwood tv. I have tried connecting the ariel to the back of the recorder and put a scart through ext2 on the recorder to ext2 on the back of my tv but all I get is a no signal message.
