My TV channels are gone; there are only a few. How do i fix this?

I have two other TVs other than this one in the house. Both have the cable/vcr boxes, while this one does not but still usually offers more channels. now, there are only about 5-10 channels on random stations while before i had from channel 1-60/70. I dont know what to do to fix it, but maybe something went wrong with the cable cord..I tried removing it and putting it back in. Also, I have a remote that didnt originally come with the TV, could it be because of this?
