On a vcr, what does 4-head mean?

That it has four heads in the unit. VCRs have a rotating drum that contain the heads which are used to read the information on the video tape. 2 Head drums have them on opposite sides of the drum. 4 head units have them 90 degrees from one another. It more heads improves reading the tape.
