VHS-C Tape Adapter stuck in VCR/TV combo?

I put a VHS-C Tape Adapter in my VCR to watch some old home movies...it worked perfectly at first but when I stopped and attempted to rewind the tape the VCR stopped reading the tape and the TV shut off when I tried to eject it. The tape is now stuck in the TV and the VCR isn't reading the tape and shuts off everytime I try to eject it. What's the best option?
