What's a good non-superhero/anime graphic novel?

I'm not looking for like watchmen or dragonball z. I'd like to give my boyfriend a good read for our one year. He likes the ones that aren't focused on superhero's and such, ones that are more reallifey/booky. I'm just looking for suggestions. I was thinking of armory wars because he loves coheed, but I'd also like to see what else is out there that isn't superheroy.. If not a title a good website with different types... thanks:)
