What is wrong with my VCR?

My VCR isn't working right. It's barely working at all, I put a tape in and for about 10 seconds I can see something, but then it just goes to fuzz. I probably have 5000+ tapes. I'm a movie buff lol! But what the heck is wrong with it? It does it to any movie I try. I hope it's not breaking my tapes.
