Remote setup question: Easy 10 points! Help?

I have a magnavox tv with dvd and vcr. the remote that came with it for some odd reason isnt programmed to it. (It IS the right remote for the tv.) How do I simply hook up the remote to it's tv? Post script: It isn't a universal remote, it is the remote that came with the tv.
